MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands Portraits by Janet Jarchow
A few weeks ago we received a letter from The MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands asking local photographers to create images interpreting the signs of multiples sclerosis.
The e-mail started: “My name is Alyssa Christian and I founded the foundation, after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and the long journey that accompanied it.” I immediately knew that I wanted to photograph her so I got in touch and Alyssa agreed to model for me. I also asked the wonderful Stephanie of Stephanie Ford Make-up to work with me on the shoot.
After throwing a few ideas out to Alyssa we had a couple of concepts that we where working with. The shoot was so much fun and I am thrilled with the resulting image. The first one is showing the internal fight that every MS patient is fighting without any externals signs … Pretty on the Outside!
The second images interprets one of the MS symptoms: dizziness.
Watch the video to get a little bit of the ‘behind the scenes’.
