German Family Wedding photographed by Janet Jarchow
Once or twice a year, I travel back home to Germany to see family and friends. This year I went for an extended trip as my sister and my cousin celebrated their German family wedding. I was so thrilled that they both asked me to photograph their weddings.
My sister Nadine and her fiancee Daniel got married on the beautiful Baltic Sea, where we both grew up playing on the white sandy beaches.
The day started off with a little snag when the camera rental company messed up my order and none of the lenses arrived. Luckily I had my trusted 50mm with me and my 16mm lens. Quite a combination to photograph a wedding with!
It was such a beautiful summer day spent with family and friends. First of a quick trip to the registry office in Bad Doberan, to make it all legal. The church ceremony was held in the Catholic church in Kuehlungsborn. Daniel and Nadine and the whole wedding party took the ‘Molli’ a historic narrow railway to the church.
After the ceremony Nadine, Daniel, their son Yannik and I hit the beach for some more photos. The Baltic Sea’s rugged beauty made for an amazing backdrop.
